  1. Question:
When I print the Detailed Report with the "Notes" option
turned on, why does the printing of the notes run off
    the edge of the page?
    Answer:
The Notes fields in the Community and Corporate Analysis
modules can be included in reports by clicking on the
"Notes" option. However, the current software does not
insert automatic carriage returns in the Notes field when
it sends it to the printer, even though what you see on
the Screen appears to have carriage returns. The result is
that the Notes field runs off the edge of the page in the
printout. The only fix for this right now is to manually
insert carriage returns in the Notes fields as you type
them. You will find that a carriage return after every two
or two and half lines in the Notes input box will result
in a printed output that fits well in the Detailed
    Report format.

  2. Question:
How can I move the CCP software from one computer
    to another?
    Answer:
The directory containing the CCP software (default name is
c:\ccpsoft)can be moved from one computer to another
and the software will work on the RECEIVING computer
PROVIDED THAT THE RECEIVING COMPUTER HAS PROPER ACCESS TO
THE BORLAND DATABASE ENGINE on which the CCP software
    relies.

The Borland Database Engine (BDE) installation is included
as part of the Installshield wizard that installs the
CCP software if you recieve it from ICLEI or TSA on diskette
or via this Web site. It normally will be found in a
directory called c:\idapi. Therefore if the receiving
computer has ever had a copy of the CCP software installed
on it using the full Installshield process, there should
already by a directory called c:\idapi containing the BDE.

If the RECEIVING computer does not have a copy of the
Borland Database Engine (BDE), you can install one by
going to the Software Download area of this web page and
downloading a copy of borland.exe. Running this program
will install the BDE in C:\idapi and will enable the
receiving computer to run the CCP software.

For more information on how the Borland Database Engine
works, and how the CCP software can be installed on a
network, see "Network Installation of the CCP Software"
in the Tech Bulletin area of this web site.

  3. Question:
When I use Windows to copy material for pasting into one of
the software's Notes fields, why does the "paste" command
sometimes not work, and how can I fix it?
    Answer:
This problem usually occurs when attempting to paste from
the Windows clipboard to a blank Notes field, and is
apparently related to a small bug in Windows. You can get
around it be typing a single character (even just a
blank space) in the Notes field and then re-attempt the
paste. The paste should work now that the Notes field is
    not completely empty.

  4. Question:
When I try to install the software from the downloaded
installation file, I get an error "No CE signature". What
    does this mean?
    Answer:
This message is an indication that the installation file
for the software did not download perfectly, and is "corrupt".
Try downloading again; if the problem persists, contact
    software@torriesmith.com or by telephone in
    Canada at 1-613-824-3045, fax 1-613-824-3297.

  5. Question:
Should I be adjusting my entries for building
energy use to reflect degree-days and variation in
    weather?
    Answer:
Not in the software. The CCP prefers that the energy
consumption entered for inventories represent actual
energy use (and therefore the actual emissions)
and not an adjusted value. As the two most important years
in the local action plan are the base year and the (future)
target year, it is recommended that the business-as-usual
forecast of energy use in the target year assume base
    year weather conditions.

Inventories for years between the base year and the
target year may show increases or decreases in energy
consumption which are wholly or partly due to weather.
The contribution of weather to these variations should be
included in the explanation of trends in actual energy use,
but the energy use entries in the CCP software itself should
    be for actual consumption.
